The All New 2019 Ford Ranger

2019 Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is one of the most recognizable names on the American highways and backroads. Since the 1983 model year, Ford offered the Ranger as a compact pickup that was thrifty yet versatile. As other trucks continued to grow and create a "midsize" pickup segment, the Ranger kept its svelte proportions. It was the only true "compact" pickup sold in America when it was discontinued in 2012. But the Ford Ranger is back! Its triumphant return was announced early in January at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new Ranger is a far different vehicle than the one that left the market five years ago.   The vehicle will go on sale in early 2019.

If you have spent any time abroad, the new Ranger might look quite familiar. That's because it's a reskinned version of Ford's T6 Ranger global pickup. That's not a bad thing, as the T6/Ranger looks quite handsome, with a strong, trapezoidal grille and sleek headlights.

The Ranger will be offered in SuperCab (aka extended cab) or SuperCrew (four-door) cab configurations. The SuperCab will be paired to a longer bed.Trims for the Ranger are XL, XLT, and Lariat. The top-tier Lariat will feature a unique grille and LED headlights.

The Interior

The interior is available with Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, which provides support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ranger will also feature a Wi-Fi hot spot that can connect up to 10 devices and can be accessed up to 50 feet away from the Ranger.

The Ford Ranger Engine

Ford keeps things simple with the Ranger's powertrain, offering the EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine as the sole power unit. Output specifications have not yet been released, but for reference, this is similar to the engine used in the Ford Mustang, where it makes 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

Power is sent through a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will make the most of the four-cylinder engine, optimizing power and efficiency. Fuel economy has not yet been announced, but Ford says the Ranger's mpg numbers will be "on par with competing V6 engines, but with the efficiency of a four-cylinder."The Friendliest Dealership in Lancaster County offers new Ford, Chevy, and Buick vehicles along with 100+ quality pre-owned vehicles of all makes and models.
